Waning
Earth will have a second “moon” in orbit for two months, a visitor coming all the way from the Arjuna asteroid belt, Asteroid 2024 PT5.
I hate that you are gentle with her feelings. I hate it because you didn’t give me that. What we had wasn’t love, it was the bare minimum of how to treat a stranger.
You hollowed me to make me a toy and smiled because no matter how far away I was, I would come, pulling me in your gravity, recoiling in horror when you recognized that the scars on my face were by your hands when you dug out all of my inhibitions,
and made it a graveyard, another place to put your pain,
getting angry whenever I came near to ask if I was holding it right.
You give her the world and I only got a bouquet of flowers.
You say sorry for the smallest things, but I only extracted teeth from you. Remember Laika?
Jupiter collects moons as wives but you collect names as ghosts that haunt you and your tell-tale heart.
Eve, Moon, Beatrice, Eden is rotting and yet you still want Paradise.
We will not be able to see Asteroid 2024 PT5, but rest assured, she will resume her orbit in 2055.
I recognize our yesterdays in the way you spin with her, think of me when the tides rise.

I wanted to write a poem about how the Moon might feel with out visitor coming into the gravitational pool party, in a creative fashion of course. I hope you enjoy this little poem, and check out some information about Asteroid 2024 PT5, it is really interesting!
